SEEDLESS WATERMELON

Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) is a flowering plant species of the Cucurbitaceae family and the name of its edible fruit. It was originally domesticated in Africa. It is a highly cultivated fruit worldwide, with more than 1,000 varieties. The sweet, juicy flesh is usually deep red to pink, with many black seeds, although seedless varieties exist. Seedless watermelons were invented over 50 years ago, and they have few or no seeds.

Watermelon is 90% water, and just one cup of watermelon’s high water content juiciness can refresh you after a warm summer day. Watermelon has a high content of vitamins and minerals: vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, Potassium, Sodium. Vitamin A is essential for skin and eye health; vitamin B6 helps your body break down the protein you eat. Vitamin C helps strengthen the immune system, and potassium helps lower blood pressure.
SHORT STORY
Seedless watermelons were initially developed in 1939 by Japanese scientists who were able to create seedless hybrids. Seedless watermelons look and taste like ordinary watermelons minus the black seed.

There are many varieties of seedless watermelons. Some of them include Queen of Hearts, King of Hearts, Jack of Hearts, Millionaire, Crimson, Trio, Nova.
FUN FACT
You can eat watermelon rind. Try putting it in a blender with some lime for a healthy, refreshing treat. The rind contains plenty of health-promoting chlorophyll, and it actually contains more of the amino acid citrulline than the pink flesh.
